Borgo di Castelvecchio Wedding in Tuscany | Robyn & Dodd

Robyn and Dodd’s wedding at Borgo di Castelvecchio brought together everything I love about photographing weddings in Italy: incredible Tuscan scenery, a relaxed atmosphere and a celebration centred around the people who matter most.

With temperatures reaching 37°C and distant thunder rolling across the hills, the day unfolded in warm golden light. Their ceremony was led by one of their closest friends, making it personal, heartfelt and full of laughter. From aperitivo overlooking the countryside to a candlelit dinner outdoors and dancing beneath the stars, every part of the day felt connected to the setting.

As a destination wedding photographer, I’m drawn to celebrations like this — where the atmosphere, the people and the unplanned moments tell the story.

A Personal Ceremony at Borgo di Castelvecchio

Robyn and Dodd’s ceremony was one of the most personal parts of the day. Led by one of their closest friends, it was filled with heartfelt stories, laughter and moments that reflected their relationship.

Surrounded by the historic stone buildings and Tuscan countryside, the ceremony felt intimate and completely their own. It was a reminder that, beyond the setting and the details, it’s the people and the connections between them that make a wedding memorable.

An Italian Wedding Dinner Under the Stars

After the ceremony, guests gathered for aperitivo and took in the surrounding views before sitting down to a candlelit dinner outdoors.

One of my favourite things about photographing weddings in Italy is the way the day moves naturally from one part of the celebration to the next. There’s time to enjoy the setting, share a meal and catch up with friends and family without everything feeling rushed.

Robyn and Dodd’s evening continued with an incredible Italian wedding cake and a live band, with dancing carrying on beneath the stars. It was a joyful end to a day that felt personal from beginning to end.

Why I Love Photographing Weddings at Borgo di Castelvecchio

One of my favourite things about Borgo di Castelvecchio is how naturally the day flows. Guests can spend the entire celebration together in one beautiful location, moving from the ceremony to aperitivo, dinner and dancing without feeling rushed.

The warm Tuscan light, historic stone buildings and surrounding countryside provide plenty of opportunities for relaxed portraits, while the atmosphere feels intimate and personal.

It’s exactly the kind of wedding that allows me to work unobtrusively, capturing genuine moments as they unfold rather than directing every part of the day.
